Studies on the seasonal variation in the chemical composition of Khejri (Prosopis spicigera Linn.)

, : Studies on the seasonal variation in the chemical composition of Khejri (Prosopis spicigera Linn.). Indian Forester 100(4): 269-273

Analyses were made at fortnightly intervals of samples of leaves and small twigs from the upper, middle and lower layers of the canopies of 6 trees growing in Bikaner, over a 12-month period in 1966-67. Data (tabulated) showed that contents of crude protein, ether extract and calcium were highest in winter, coinciding with the time when forage is in short supply.
