Studies on the seed dormancy and breaking of seed dormancy of barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli Beauv. var. oryzicola Ohwi)

, : Studies on the seed dormancy and breaking of seed dormancy of barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli Beauv. var. oryzicola Ohwi). Japanese Journal of Tropical Agriculture 16(4): 276-282

Washing E. crus-galli seeds or subjecting them to alternating temperatures promoted germination in deeply dormant seeds and broke dormancy in lightly-dormant seeds; a combination of both treatments always broke dormancy. When seeds were soaked in water, eluates contained both growth inhibitors and promotors.
