Studies on the seed production of Japanese Red and Black Pine (2)

, : Studies on the seed production of Japanese Red and Black Pine (2). Bulletin of the Kyoto University Forests (46): 75-84

In a further study of seed production in Pinus densiflora and P. thunbergii analyses were made of cone and seed production in six sample trees at Iwakura, NE Kyoto, from Oct. 1973 to June 1974. The number of cones produced was closely correlated with branch weight. The total number of cones, the number of cones releasing seeds and the number of conelets increased with the age of the tree. There did not seem to be much relation between leaf weight and total number of cones.
