Studies on the segregation of the colour character of cacao seeds

, : Studies on the segregation of the colour character of cacao seeds. Revista Theobroma 2(2): 10-14

Three hybrids, resulting from open pollination of the white-seeded variety Catongo in a population of violet-seeded Amazon, were self pollinated. The seeds obtained were classified according to colour and the segregation ratios conformed to either 1:2:1 (white : violet with red tinge : violet) or 1:3 (white : violet). Segregation for seed colour was also studied in Trinitario plants and natural hybrids of Catongo and violet-seeded Amazon.
