Studies on the selection of Cucurbita spp. as cucumber rootstocks. 2. Compatibility and yield in the white prickly cucumber

, : Studies on the selection of Cucurbita spp. as cucumber rootstocks. 2. Compatibility and yield in the white prickly cucumber. Bulletin of Ibaraki ken Horticultural Experiment Station (5): 53-65

Seventeen C. moschata, 24 C. maxima, 22 C. pepo, 2 C. mixta, 2 C. okeechobeensis cvs and 6 C. maxima X C. moschata F1 hybrids were tested as rootstocks under 4 growing conditions. In late culture in a vinyl house use of the cvs Skirokikuza, Higata No.2, Higata No.8 and King Tosa as rootstocks gave the best yields at a late stage though self-rooted cvs were better earlier. In early culture in a vinyl house C. ficilifolia and King Tosa were best.
