Sulikeri, G.S.; Bhandary, K.R., 1973: Studies on the sex expression in muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.) as influenced by ethrel (2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid) treatment. Current Research, Bangalore, India 2(7): 50-51
The effects of 2-chloroethanephosphonic acid at concentrations of 0, (control) 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 p.p.m. (sprayed at the first true leaf stage) were studied in a local variety of C. melo. Staminate flowers appeared later and pistillate flowers earlier in the treated plants than in the controls. Maximum delay in staminate flowering was noted following treatment with 500 p.p.m.
