, : Studies on the sexual behaviour of the female purebred Holstein-Friesian in Egypt. II. Estrus cycle length and duration of estrus. Alexandria Journal of Agricultural Research 21(2): 179-184

Oestrous cycle length in groups of 134 and 255 cows and 78 heifers averaged 33.5 days; of 494, 1523 and 312 cycles recorded in the 3 groups, 51.21, 52.20 and 33.22% resp. were in the range 18-25 days. For cycles in this range, av. cycle length was 21.12, 21.01 and 19.72 days resp., that of heifers being significantly shorter than that of cows. Season and parity had no effect on cycle length.
