Studies on the shootborer Hypsipyla grandella (Zeller) (Lep., Pyralidae). XX. Observations on emergence and mating of adults in captivity

, : Studies on the shootborer Hypsipyla grandella (Zeller) (Lep., Pyralidae). XX. Observations on emergence and mating of adults in captivity. Turrialba 23(3): 352-356

In this further part of a series (cf. preceding abstract, etc.), details are given of observations made in the laboratory on the emergence and pairing of adults of Hypsipyla grandella (Zell.). The pupae were kept under conditions in which the temperature ranged from 20 to 31.5 deg C, and the adults were kept in a screened insectary where the temperature ranged from 15 to 37 deg C. Most adults emerged just before nightfall, the peak of emergence occurring at light intensities of 0-15 lux.
