Studies on the shootborer Hypsipyla grandella Zeller (Lep., Pyralidae). XI. Growth of larvae reared on a synthetic diet. XII. Determination of the LC50 of Metarrhizium anisopliae (Metchnikoff) Sorokin spores on fifth instar larvae

, : Studies on the shootborer Hypsipyla grandella Zeller (Lep., Pyralidae). XI. Growth of larvae reared on a synthetic diet. XII. Determination of the LC50 of Metarrhizium anisopliae (Metchnikoff) Sorokin spores on fifth instar larvae. Turrialba 22(4): 431-434, 435-438

(XI) The size and duration of larval instars were very variable, and selection of stages for bioassay should be based on head size. Head-capsule size was not correlated with larval size. The number of instars ranged from 5 to 7. (XII) The fifth larval instar of H. grandella was the most susceptible to the fungus M. anisopliae, followed by the sixth and seventh instars.
