Studies on the size of cauliflower transplants in relation to field performance with particular reference to date of maturity and length of cutting period

, : Studies on the size of cauliflower transplants in relation to field performance with particular reference to date of maturity and length of cutting period. Experimental Horticulture (23): 34-42

In trials with 3 cvs of early summer and summer cauliflowers, the transplants were divided into 3 size grades at planting time. Large transplants matured earlier than small transplants, and any one grade had a shorter harvesting period than mixed size grades. Yields from larger transplants were often reduced by a high incidence of buttoning. Low percentages of buttoning were recorded for plants taking 8 weeks or more from planting to mid-harvest.
