Investigations were made in Poland in 1966-69 in Krakow and its environs on the species of predacious Syrphids occurring in aphid colonies on fruit trees and bushes. Seventeen species was found. Syrphus vitripennis Mg., which accounted for 25% of all individuals, was the predominant one, and the next most numerous were S. ribesii (L.) (14.5%), S. balteatus (Deg.) (14.3%), S. luniger Mg. (8.5%), S. corollae F. (6.7%), S. bifasciatus F. (10.3%) and Melanostoma ambiguum (Fall.) (8.2%).
