Using solid overlay medium the number of seed cells within a limit of 2, 4 and 8 million cells per plate (60 mm in diameter) had no influence on plaque counts but caused changes in size and shape. Equal plaque numbers were obtained in primary, secondary and tertiary cell cultures.
