Studies on the storage of onions using radiation (II)

, : Studies on the storage of onions using radiation (II). Journal of the Korean Society for Horticultural Science 15(2): 163-167

gamma -Ray doses of 3 to 15 krad were used. For onions harvested early, at the usual time, and late, and all treated at 5 krad, rates of decay were respectively 28, 40 and 54% and rates of sprouting 5, 36 and 32%. Thus although early harvesting reduced total yields the storage quality was much improved.
