Studies on the suitability of sugar beet growing on light soils in the Muncheberg area

, : Studies on the suitability of sugar beet growing on light soils in the Muncheberg area. Archiv fur Acker und Pflanzenbau und Bodenkunde 16(10): 761-770

In field trials in 1964-6, 4 cultivars and 1 breeding line of sugar beet and fodder beet Dilana were grown in plots and on a commercial field scale on 3 soils. It was concluded that soils of quality classes 40 to 30 were suitable for sugar beet growing without additional sprinkler irrigation, whereas unsatisfactory yields were obtained with soil of quality class 20.
