Studies on the summer decline of Chilocorus bipustulatus in Citrus groves of Israel

, : Studies on the summer decline of Chilocorus bipustulatus in Citrus groves of Israel. Entomophaga 16(4): 433-444

Investigations were carried out in Israel to determine the factors that cause populations of Chilocorus bipustulatus (L.), an important predator of Coccids on Citrus, to decline in summer at the time when the Coccid populations are increasing. It had earlier been suggested that high temperatures might impair fecundity and cause heavy mortality, or that the supply of food might be insufficient, or that the decline might be attributable to attack by the fungus Hesperomyces virescens.
