Studies on the survival of infective larvae of Ostertagia ostertagi and Cooperia oncophora in silage containing formic acid

, : Studies on the survival of infective larvae of Ostertagia ostertagi and Cooperia oncophora in silage containing formic acid. Zentralblatt fur Veterinarmedizin, B 21(5): 389-391

The survival of infective larvae of a mixture of Ostertagia ostertagi and Cooperia oncophora was tested in fresh grass silage with the addition of 4 litres of 87% formic acid per ton under field conditions during autumn. At a maximum temperature of 33 deg C and pH 4.2, 10% of the larvae were still viable after 40 days.
