Studies on the thermal properties of wood and woody materials. IV. Thermal expansion for wood

, : Studies on the thermal properties of wood and woody materials. IV. Thermal expansion for wood. Mokuzai Gakkaishi Journal of the Japan Wood Research Society 19(2): 69-74

The tangential, radial and longitudinal thermal expansion of wood of Chamaecyparis obtusa, Fagus crenata and Betula maximowicziana was measured as a function of temperature. Discontinuities were found in the rate of change of expansion with temperature and were correlated with wood softening temperatures.
