Studies on the translocation of photosynthates in satsuma mandarin. II. Effect of root environmental conditions on the translocation of 14C

, : Studies on the translocation of photosynthates in satsuma mandarin. II. Effect of root environmental conditions on the translocation of 14C. Journal of the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science 41(4): 361-366

When root growth was reduced by low pH or water stress translocation within the whole plant was suppressed and more 14C-photosynthate was accumulated in the leaves. However, holding the culture solution at pH 3.0 rather than 6.8 decreased translocation to the fruit by only a small extent, whereas water stress (under field conditions) greatly reduced the accumulation of 14C in the juice.
