Studies on the translocation of photosynthates within satsuma trees during fruit growth

, : Studies on the translocation of photosynthates within satsuma trees during fruit growth. Memoirs of the College of Agriculture, Ehime University 18(2): 193-254

A number of experiments were conducted to clarify some physiological aspects of the translocation of photosynthates using 14C. It was noticed that the 3-7-cm-long developing shoots were the most powerful sink; when these shoots were removed the activity of the roots increased and that of the older leaves remained higher than when the young shoots were left on the tree. However, as the young fruits developed they became the most powerful sink.
