Studies on the transmission of Mulberry dwarf disease by a vector leafhopper, Hishimonus sellatus Uhler. II. On the inoculation of the causal agent by viruliferous vector

, : Studies on the transmission of Mulberry dwarf disease by a vector leafhopper, Hishimonus sellatus Uhler. II. On the inoculation of the causal agent by viruliferous vector. Annals of the Phytopathological Society of Japan 37(2): 141-146

In inoculation experiments, the shortest feeding time required to permit transfer of the causal agent of the disease from H. sellatus to disease-free Morus kagayamae seedlings was 3 hours. A latent period for the causal agent in the body of H. sellatus was detected; this varied in length with individuals from 13-28 to 42-55 days.
