Studies on the transmission of antibodies to leptospirosis to newborn piglets in contaminated herds

, : Studies on the transmission of antibodies to leptospirosis to newborn piglets in contaminated herds. Lucrari Stiintifice II Zootehnie Medicina Veterinara: 1974; 124-129

In two infected herds, 51 blood samples f non-vaccinated sows shortly after farrowing, and 153 samples from their newborn piglets either before or 1-8 days after receiving colostrum were investigated for antibodies to L. pomona and L. tarassovi by the microagglutination-lysis reaction. The results demonstrated the absence of transplacental transmission of antibodies and the nonreactive condition of the foetus during the uterine period.
