Studies on the treatment of fascioliasis. IX. Anthelmintic effect of rafoxanide on immature stage of Fasciola sp. in rabbits

, : Studies on the treatment of fascioliasis. IX. Anthelmintic effect of rafoxanide on immature stage of Fasciola sp. in rabbits. Japanese Journal of Parasitology 22(2): 63-67

Single oral doses of 50, 75 or 100 mg/kg body-weight of rafoxanide were given to 21 rabbits which had been experimentally infected with 20 Fasciola sp. metacercariae each. Autopsy 24 to 77 days after infection failed to reveal any worms, whereas autopsy of 3 similarly infected untreated controls 39 to 62 days after infection yielded 3 to 9 immature worms and one mature worm.
