Studies on the type and extent of bacterial infections in hens at slaughter.

, : Studies on the type and extent of bacterial infections in hens at slaughter.. Schlacht und Viehhof Zeitung 72(8): 283-284

Bacteriological examination of 20 apparently healthy hens after slaughter revealed bacterial infections in 83 (41.5%). The bacteria isolated included pathogenic species (S. typhimurium in 13, Listeria monocytogenes in 8, and Staph. aureus in 2 birds) as well as non-pathogenic species. These bacterial findings were in good agreement with those from ill and dead birds from the same flocks.
