Studies on the uptake and transport of radiostrontium in plants

, : Studies on the uptake and transport of radiostrontium in plants. Radiation and radioisotopes in soil studies and plant nutrition Proceedings of a symposium held at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Hebbal, Bangalore, December 21-23, 1970: 127-142

3-week-old Phaseolus vulgaris plants were placed in 89Sr-labelled nutrient solution for periods ranging from 10 min to 192 h. Accumulation of 89Sr was 130 times higher in the root than in the shoot. Rate of accumulation increased rapidly during the first 24 h and decreased gradually during the next 7 days.
