Studies on the uptake of fertilizer nitrogen by Scots Pine using 15N labelled urea. Influence of peat thickness and application time

, : Studies on the uptake of fertilizer nitrogen by Scots Pine using 15N labelled urea. Influence of peat thickness and application time. Metsantutkimuslaitoksen Julkaisuja 79(2): 47

In Finland, sample trees of Pinus sylvestris on adjacent areas of (a) deep peat (100-160 cm), (b) shallow peat (10-30 cm), and (c) a Vaccinium-type site, were treated at different times (Dec., March, April, May, or July) with urea at a rate of 53.3 kg N/ha. The foliar N content, measured in May-Oct., showed significant differences between sites, times of application, and times of sampling.
