Studies on the utilization of windfall and surplus apples as feedstuff. III. Nutritive value for milk production in lactating cows

, : Studies on the utilization of windfall and surplus apples as feedstuff. III. Nutritive value for milk production in lactating cows. Bulletin of the Faculty of Agriculture, Hirosaki University (21): 46-55

6 lactating Holstein-Friesian cows were used to compare the effects of feeding (i) windfall and surplus apples (20 kg/head daily), (ii) turnips (also at 20 kg) and (iii) a standard ration containing no succulent. Yields of milk, milk fat, protein and lactose tended to be higher when (i) was fed (not significant).
