Study of the current increment of stands under shelterwood management

, : Study of the current increment of stands under shelterwood management. Lesnoi Zhurnal 15(5): 37-41

Gives an illustrated description of the design of a special tool developed for extracting short samples (cores 2-3 cm long) from trees, without the distortion of the core normally found when conventional increment borers are used. Details are given of the use of this tool to study the current diameter increment of Oak and Scots Pine in the first three years after the first shelterwood felling.
