Gives data on the depth and distribution of the root system of plants 1-4 years old in nursery-type conditions, and also of plants in natural stands in Serbia. On lowland sites the root system is fairly superficial but some of the roots do penetrate deeply; on upland sites the root system is entirely superficial.
