The effect of weed-control operations and their timing on the growth of young Norway Spruce

, : The effect of weed-control operations and their timing on the growth of young Norway Spruce. Allgemeine Forst und Jagdzeitung 143(12): 253-260

Plantings were made of 1 + 2 Picea abies, spaced 0.5 X 0.5 m, on sites uniformly covered with dense Deschampsia flexuosa (a), Calamagrostis epigeios (b) or Pteridium aquilinum (c). Plots were weeded once or twice annually during the first three growing seasons by mowing with a sickle at different dates, and in one series of the trials herbicides (dalapon for the grasses and Prefix for the bracken) were applied.
