The strains imposed on the resources of governments and industry by the increasing scope and complexity of pesticide registration are outlined and active cooperation by industry at both national and international levels is advocated in framing realistic regulations which concentrate on those aspects of pesticide usage which pose real and not hypothetical hazards.
