Yield response to nitrogen application by continuous spring wheat

, : Yield response to nitrogen application by continuous spring wheat. Proceedings of the Agronomy Society of New Zealand 3: 7-11

In a field trial in 1967-71 following 3 previous cereal crops, wheat Oatea sown at 200 kg seed/ha was grown for 4 successive years. Main plots received annual applications of 0, 25, 50 or 75 kg N/ha, while subplots received 0, 37 or 75 kg N/ha annually during the study period. Mean yields of grain for 3 of the 4 seasons were 4.4, 4.8, 5.3, 5.4, 5.7, 5.6 and 5.8 t/ha for total applications of 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150 kg N/ha, respectively.
