, : Addition of cysteine to cows' milk for premature infant feeding. Pediatria, Romania 26(2): 177-181

In 15 premature infants (1-6-wk old) fed for one month with the cows' milk product Eledon, supplemented with L(+)-cysteine, av. cysteine levels in blood decreased from 9.31 plus or minus 3.25 to 7.58 plus or minus 4.8 mg% and methionine levels from 0.143 plus or minus 0.03 to 0.126 plus or minus 0.03 mg%. Blood of a control group of 5 infants receiving human milk contained 15.98 plus or minus 2.88 mg% cysteine but only 0.053 mg% methionine.
