Biochemical aspects of the mode of action of cyclic amidines

, : Biochemical aspects of the mode of action of cyclic amidines. Tick borne diseases and their vectors: 219-225

It is shown that the 3 modes of action of cyclic amidine acaricides described in Boophilus microplus (Can.) by W. Stendel can be characterised in biochemical terms. The paralysing cyclic amidine clenpyrin (N-(1-butyl-2-pyrrolidinylidene)-3,4-dichlorobenzenamine) causes a rapid and considerable decline in oxygen consumption, and no eggs develop in the ovaries. This action is not found in mummifying and tickifugal cyclic amidines; normal eggs are developed in the ovaries, but none are laid.
