Biological evaluation of the effect of ammonium chloride for fattening cattle on metabolic processes and liver function

, : Biological evaluation of the effect of ammonium chloride for fattening cattle on metabolic processes and liver function. Sel' skokhozyaistvennaya Biologiya 10(5): 670-674

Black pied bulls 16 to 17 months old, initially weighing 408 to 416 kg, were fattened on a diet with concentrates to supply 67 and haylage 33% of total nutrients, or concentrates 80 and hay 20%. Each diet was given alone or with NH4Cl at 2 mg/kg bodyweight. The bulls were fed to appetite in stalls. Biopsy samples of liver and blood were taken. Enzyme activities were estimated in liver homogenates and in the protein-free centrifuged and incubated sample of the liver.
