Citric acid in feeds for rearing piglets

, : Citric acid in feeds for rearing piglets. Zuchtungskunde 47(5): 329-335

For 21 days from 5 to 14 kg 32 piglets weaned early were reared on milk replacer and then for 14 days more on a rearing feed each with no citric acid or 0.5, 1.5 or 4.5%. In the first 3 weeks there was only a slight difference among groups. In the next 2 weeks 4.5% citric acid gave daily gain 446 g against 410 g for the other groups, and increased feed intake.
