Climatic requirements of Phaseolus vulgaris L. during April-July

, : Climatic requirements of Phaseolus vulgaris L. during April-July. Boletin Tecnico, Estacion Experimental Agricola Fabio Baudrit M, Facultad de Agronomia, Universidad de Costa Rica 7(25): 51

In field trials of Alajuela, Costa Rica in 1973, bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) Jamapa was sown at 10-day intervals from 1 Apr. to 30 July. The highest seed yields were obtained by sowing on 1 and 21 Apr. (2.12 and 2.03 t seed/ha, respectively). With these sowing dates the crop was irrigated up to mid-May, at which time the rainy season began. Sowing on 10 June gave the lowest yield. A correlation between some climatic factors and yield was found.
