In 4 trials during 4 years a total of 4650 male turkeys were given, from 10 days to 8 weeks of age, standard diets with 28% protein to 5 weeks then 24% or had 60, 70, 80 or 85% of the standard protein. Amino acids were not adjusted. From 8 weeks to 24 weeks, or market weight in the fourth trial, all the turkeys had the same feed. At 8 weeks of age restriction of protein as described reduced weight by about 50, 26, 17 and 9%, and increased feed eaten for unit gain.
