Coping with disaster. Selective feeding procedures

, : Coping with disaster. Selective feeding procedures. Disasters 1(3): 179-197

From experience gained in past disasters it is suggested that the population be divided into the categories well nourished, vulnerable and malnourished. The organization and running of programmes of supplementary and therapeutic feeding are described. The former involves additions with a high energy or protein content or both to the daily ration of the vulnerable, such as children under 5 years old or 115 cm tall, pregnant and lactating women and the elderly.
