Diagnosis of pests, diseases and other problems of the cultivated mushroom, Agaricus bisporus

, : Diagnosis of pests, diseases and other problems of the cultivated mushroom, Agaricus bisporus. Mushroom Science 9: 109-123

A sample incubation technique was developed and used to aid diagnosis of mushroom crop problems, providing specific information about pests, weed mould competitors, pest effects and the vigour of mushroom mycelium in commercial beds. Inspection visits to 13 mushroom farms during 28 months showed that pests were involved in c. 25% of crop problems encountered. Animal pest infestation may interfere with the diagnosis of mushroom virus disease.
