Differential induction of mutations in barley through diethyl sulphate treatments at different periods in presoaking of seed

, : Differential induction of mutations in barley through diethyl sulphate treatments at different periods in presoaking of seed. Third International Barley Genetics Symposium, July 7-12, 1975 Authors T Z: [Abstracts]: 135

Nuclei of the shoot apical meristem displaying diffuse chromatin were frequent in mid G1 after eight hours seed soaking and just before S after 14 h. Field survival was markedly reduced at the stage when the frequency of nuclei with diffuse chromatin was increasing. Seed sterility tended to increase as the presoaking period increased. As mutants for earliness and short culm were being sought these were the forms most often recorded in the field.
