Effect of soil heating on the extractabilities of manganese, cobalt, copper, and zinc

, : Effect of soil heating on the extractabilities of manganese, cobalt, copper, and zinc. Journal of the Science of Soil and Manure, Japan 45(7): 352-358

Acetic acid (2.5%) and 0.05M EDTA-extractable manganese increased with increasing temperature between room temperature and 200 deg C, and decreased with increasing temperature above 200 deg C. This effect depended on the contents of humus and manganese oxides in soil, and was attributable to dissolution of manganese oxides with soluble organic matter formed from humus by heating.
