Effect of spacing and topping of plants on yield and quality of Oriental tobacco

, : Effect of spacing and topping of plants on yield and quality of Oriental tobacco. Agroplantae 8(4): 83-86

In trials in 3 growing season at Elsenburg, tobacco Soulouk was planted at 10, 15 or 20 cm apart within rows 75 cm apart and was topped to give (a) 1 333 300, (b) 1 599 960 or (c) 1 866 620 leaves/ha or (d) was not topped (28 leaves/plant) in 2 seasons. Spacing at 15 or 20 cm and (b) or (c) gave higher leaf yields and income/ha than 10 cm or (a).
