The author opposes the idea of using magnitudes of gross production per ha. or production costs per product unit for comparisons between farms and between regions. These types of comparison of magnitudes, which do not take the influence of soil quality into consideration, are considered unsuitable and lead to incorrect conclusions. The criterion of profit per ha. is also not exact, since in this case the level of expenditure per product unit is not taken into consideration.
