Fluoride intake in Lucknow, India

, : Fluoride intake in Lucknow, India. Fluoride 8(3): 154-163

Of 16 565 children in the Lucknow district 18% had definite fluorosis, classed as mild, moderate or severe for about 5% and very mild for the rest. In a study with 1409 children 12% of those drinking water containing F 0 to 0.4 mu g/g had fluorosis. Fluorosis was considered a problem in rural areas and previous work (NAR 43, 6539) has shown that fresh well water contains sediment and supplies more F than urban water.
