Geographic variation in Douglas-fir from the coastal ranges of California. I. Seed, seedling growth and hardiness characteristics

, : Geographic variation in Douglas-fir from the coastal ranges of California. I. Seed, seedling growth and hardiness characteristics. Silvae Genetica 1978; 26(5/6): 149-157

Variation in seed wt., germination rate, cotyledon number, growth, phenology, cold hardiness and response to moisture stress was studied in 181 wind-pollinated families of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) from 9 localities in the region (lat. 37-42 deg N; extending E. to the Sacramento Valley). All the characters varied genetically; the predominant pattern of variation was between the coastal fog belt and the interior regions.

The aim of this manuscript is to define a new concept, namely synergetic stability, which can be useful in systems where the interplay of noncovalent interactions is important. Usually, the stability of a noncovalent complex is related to the comp...

Comparison of counter-immunoelectrophoresis and passive haemagglutination with toxin neutralization in mice. The toxin neutralization test in mice is considered to correlate well with protection in humans. In the present study, the correlation...
