Geographic variation in Picea glehnii (I). Differences in seedling height and bud-opening date among twelve seed sources

, : Geographic variation in Picea glehnii (I). Differences in seedling height and bud-opening date among twelve seed sources. Journal of the Japanese Forestry Society 57(9): 305-310

Presents data on the variation in height at age 4 to 8 years and the date at which buds opened in P. glehnii, raised in the nursery of the Hokkaido Forest Tree Breeding Station, Ebetsu, from seed of 3-20 mother trees in 12 natural stands in Hokkaido. Highly significant differences between seed sources were found for both traits. Seedling height was greater in sources from the serpentine zone than in those from other areas.
