Growth of subterranean clover in a range soil by microclimate and phosphorus availability. 2. Laboratory and phytotron studies

, : Growth of subterranean clover in a range soil by microclimate and phosphorus availability. 2. Laboratory and phytotron studies. Agronomy Journal 69(1): 26-29

Pot experiments with subterranean clover Woogenellup were conducted from Nov. to March under diurnal conditions of temp. and light typical of the Mediterranean conditions of California. A P adsorption isotherm for 2 soils, measured after an equilibration time of 11 days, indicated soil fixation capacities of 80 and 120 kg P/ha at equilibrium sol. concentrations of 0.1 and 0.2 p.p.m., resp. Phytotron experiments showed that opt. vigorous growth occurred at fertilizer levels of 90-180 kg P/ha.
