Hormonal-induced lactation in dairy cows

, : Hormonal-induced lactation in dairy cows. Arkansas Farm Research 23(2): 5

3 non-pregnant, non-lactating cows (5.5-11 yr) were given 0.1 mg oestradiol-17 beta + 0.25 mg progesterone/kg body wt. for 7 days. Milking was initiated within 8-10 days after the last injection. 305-day milk yields of the 2 cows which completed the study were 9120 and 13 440 lb, and estimated yield of the cow which broke her hip was 15 000 lb.
