Increased productivity in garlic

, : Increased productivity in garlic. Revista de Agricultura, Cuba 6(2): 12-51

An agronomic study was made of material collected throughout the country. Variation in resistance to Alternaria porri was observed. Selection for yield of multiplication material was carried out on the basis of clove size, bulb diameter and stem position of aerial bulbils. Selection of bulbs with large diameters appeared to produce the highest yields, raising the average yield of seven clones from 1.3 to 7.1 t/ha. Details of ten improved clones are tabulated.
