Increased range forage production by reseeding and the chemical control of knapweed

, : Increased range forage production by reseeding and the chemical control of knapweed. Journal of Range Management 28(5): 406-407

In trials in 1968-71, plots on 2 sites depleted by grazing were left untreated or were given 0, 4 or 8 oz picloram/ac and sown with crested wheatgrass (Agropyron cristatum). Herbage yield of a site receiving 12-14 in precipitation annually and carrying an almost solid stand of Kentucky bluegrass with a recent invasion of Centaurea spp. was increased by crested wheatgrass, but herbicide treatments had no significant effect.
